Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Response
We assist our clients with developing emergency response and recovery plans tailored to your university, college, hospital, public utility, company and organization. Our work includes the formulation of an emergency management system and the associated development of coordination capabilities, policy and strategic roles, continued community and business operations, contingency planning, and effective implementation of recovery efforts. We explore the roles and responsibilities of executive decision makers and operational “first responders” while building an Emergency Operations Center and moving through the phases of a critical incident. Our services include developing policies, creating teams, developing crisis communication messages, and conducting comprehensive “hands-on” training that includes table top exercises.
Management Studies
Margolis & Associates, LLC has considerable experience, academic and real world, with organizational development and transformation. Given our extensive experience in policing and higher education administration, we conduct management reviews and organizational studies for public safety organizations, specializing in university and college settings. As follows, we perform higher education safety and security audits with a focus on policies, technology and physical security systems. This same knowledge and expertise is readily applied to the municipal and county police organization.
Campus Security Assessments
Based on best practices, we will analyze current systems including electronic security; closed circuit television systems; access control; and mass notification and warning system in order to provide recommendations for design and implementation. We will provide system cost projections, based on the utilization of proper installation techniques, that can be included in overall fiscal projections as well as specifications that can be included in installation bids. We will be with you every step of the way as you move through the process to meet your security needs.
Expert Witness & Litigation Consultation
Margolis & Associates, LLC is available to consult on litigation issues surrounding security and public safety events and concerns at universities and colleges.
Workplace Violence Prevention
Traditional crime prevention strategies deal with attacks from outside the organization but the manner in which workplace violence is often carried out today shows that the perpetrator comes from inside, either the organization’s own staff or clientele. Random violence is less and less the cause of these problems. With regards to awareness and prevention, the most effective defense is to combine preventive human resource practices with the identification of warning signs of violent behavior. We define violence in this regard as behavior and actions that would lead a reasonable and prudent person to interpret a potential for violence. Our services include policy development and training that explores the leading motives for workplace violence and sources in the organization. We work with our clients to enhance environmental and support structures including grievance procedures and threat/violence assessment teams. Additionally, we assist in response and recovery planning as a post-incident response to a violent act in the workplace.
Violence Against Women Crimes Training
We offer the opportunity to explore innovative approaches for addressing policy development and training on crimes of violence against women, specifically domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. Our clients examine and assess their organization’s current response to these challenges and the impact they have on workplace safety and productivity. We emphasize developing and communicating priorities, networking with colleagues to share challenges and solutions, and designing practical action plans to maximize organization and community efforts to end violence against women, assist victims and hold perpetrators accountable. In addition to public safety agencies, we work closely with our higher education, industry and not-for-profit clients in this area as it relates to workplace violence prevention and safety promotion.
